Costco Canada will give you the difference if something you bought drops in price within 30 days. Most people never claim it, because nobody checks the price of last week’s groceries.
This page is the practical version: what to do, in order, for a warehouse purchase and for a Costco.ca order. For the policy itself — what qualifies, what doesn’t, and how to catch price drops — read Costco’s price adjustment policy: what qualifies.

Costco Canada honours price adjustment requests for warehouse purchases within 30 days from the date of purchase. The clock starts on the day you paid, not the day you opened the box.
Find the purchase date on your receipt. Without one, ask staff to look the purchase up against your membership — Costco’s policy page doesn’t promise this, but your warehouse shopping history is in your online account.
If you are past 30 days, the price adjustment is gone. What you may still have is Costco’s return policy, which is a different thing entirely.
You need a current, lower price on the same item:
Two conditions matter: the item must still be in stock (demonstration merchandise doesn’t count), and you must be within the valid promotional dates for that price.
Note the item number from your receipt. Costco’s clerks work from the item number, not the product name.
For a warehouse purchase, take:
Go to the membership counter of your local warehouse — not the returns queue, and not the checkout. Costco’s own wording is that their clerks will be happy to help.
Say it plainly: “I bought this on the 3rd, it’s now $20 less, I’d like a price adjustment.” You don’t need to argue the policy. You don’t need to bring the item with you.
Costco’s page doesn’t state how the difference is returned for warehouse purchases, so ask at the counter — members report both a refund to the original card and cash.
Online orders follow a separate process:
The part people get wrong: Costco.ca does not match warehouse prices, and the warehouse does not match Costco.ca prices. A cheaper shelf price won’t get you a credit on an online order, and vice versa. Costco.ca also doesn’t match other retailers.
Categories and exceptions do change, so check Costco’s page for your item before making the trip.
The claim itself takes five minutes. The hard part is noticing the drop inside 30 days, on the 40 things in last weekend’s cart.
That’s the job RefundWatcher does: scan the receipt, and it watches those exact item numbers across Canadian warehouses and messages you when one drops, with the item number and the amount, while the window is still open. It’s free.
How long do I have? Thirty days from the purchase date, for both warehouse and Costco.ca purchases.
Do I need my receipt? It helps. Costco’s published policy doesn’t say a receipt is required, and staff can often look the purchase up against your membership, but bring the receipt if you have it.
Do I have to bring the item back? No. A price adjustment is not a return — you keep the item and get the difference.
Can I claim a warehouse purchase at a different warehouse? Costco’s policy says to visit “your local warehouse” and doesn’t rule other locations in or out, so call ahead if it won’t be the warehouse you bought from. The price you’re claiming still has to be a current, valid one.
What if the item sold out? The item needs to be in stock for the adjustment, so claim it while the sale is on.
Does this work on Costco.ca orders bought in the warehouse, or the other way round? No. The two are handled separately, and neither matches the other’s price.
Still have questions? The RefundWatcher FAQ covers the app side, and Costco’s own pages below cover the policy.
